Florin Tibre

Florin Tibre has been working at his family office headquartered in Romania since 1997. He was raised within the family business during the Romanian privatization era and started working in road and bridge construction while he was studying in the university. Moreover, he is the Co-chair and Director of IT of Euro Data Center, an IT company that provides cloud infrastructure as a service from its own IBM High Density Scalable Modular Data Center.

Leaping away from the family business in order to gain external, hands-on, and real-life experience after graduating with a degree of International Finance at the Romanian-American University in Bucharest, Tibre initiated his first start-up business when he was 24 within the agricultural sector, and was the first tobacco producer and exporter in Democratic Romania after the Fall of Communism.

The experience of Romania joining the European Union helped Tibre gain more international reach and made him co-found, with a German partner, a telecom start-up which served multinational Internet Service Providers with Voice-over-IP core technology within a wholesale business model. Keeping a solid reputation within the leading Telecoms in Central Eastern Europe, he started to invest in optical fiber networks and underground infrastructure and ultimately ranked up in deeper ISP core services as key supplier to Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, and Liberty Global.

Tibre went back to his family’s business in order to secure more funding and to consolidate another IT branch, the Euro Data Center, which handles and keeps ISP data secure and compliant in the newest data center built in Romania. He commissioned IBM Corporation to build the data center, and his family office’s IT branch became an IBM Data Center Services supplier.

Tibre graduated from Hult International Business School as an EMBA in order to gain a more global reach to businesses and knowledge. Their family office started to diversify the construction and IT business and invested in automotive dealerships and the textile industry. He believes that working within an emerging economy is an opportunity. He continues to participate in and contribute to his country’s economic growth.
