Edilberto “Ed” Ortiz

Edilberto C. Ortiz, CPA, or Ed Ortiz, is the Managing Partner of E. C. Ortiz & Co., LLP. Ortiz has been in the practice of public accounting since the 1960’s and oversees the management of the firm in its daily operations.

Ortiz has over 30 years of auditing and accounting experience. He was formerly employed by Ernst and Whinney and Arthur Andersen before he founded E. C. Ortiz and Co., CPAs as an Independent Practitioner in 1974. In 2003, the firm was restructured to become a limited liability partnership.

Ortiz is considered the firm’s main authority in tax matters relating to individuals, tax exempt organizations, and corporations. Having significant accounting and tax experience, he also assists clients with a wide variety of tax issues. He also worked on several clients in various industries like casinos, lottery, not-for-profit entities, commercial enterprises, universities, and other State agencies.

Ortiz received his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the Far Eastern University, Philippines. He also attended the Executive Education Program at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. Ortiz is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois.

Ortiz professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Chairman of the Scholarship Task Force in 2000), Illinois CPA Society (Board of Director from 1998-2000), National Council of Philippine American Canadian Accountants (President from 1988-1990), Philippine CPAs of Greater Chicago (President from 1973-1975), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Institute of Internal Auditor, Government Finance Officers Association, National Association of State Board of Accountancy, and Department of Professional Regulations.
